Servant x Service Review

For some reason, this anime has got me laughing all through each episode. Perhaps it was the reality in the show, or the hilarious monologue of each character.

A slice of life anime, there is not much of a riveting story behind it, but the interactions between each character is really entertaining. The presentation of the story is in a way that there is focus on each character of the story, leading to a well round character development in the anime, something that a few other anime really needed (make your own picks :P)

I will not put any spoilers here as to the description of each character and such because really to be honest, this story depends quite heavily on its revelations. It is meant to be a one-off affair, I guess, but who knows, I might even give a second run next time I need a laugh, or want to see something cute.

In anycase, if you needed a light hearted comedy after watching some heavy anime or just had a bad day, give this a shot and you won't regret it.

Kantai Collection: KanColle First Look!

Based on the highly popular KanKore game (only available in Japan, unfortunately), the story revolves around a rookie destroyer, Fubuki, who just assigned to be with the Third Torpedo Squadron. I was intrigued enough by the setting of cute girls as being possessed by warships to battle strange creatures of the sea to pick up the first 3 episodes.

The story starts off normally to explain how the warship girls (KanMuSu) are the only thing that can battle Abyssals, a "deep sea fleet" that emerged from, well, the deep sea, saving mankind. The OP hints at a dark undercurrent the anime has, but it is not evident in the later scenes...yet.

Fubuki is introduced to the new navy school grounds by her mates as each one pop into the scene. Each girl, except perhaps Fubuki herself, who is just a normal down-to-earth hardworking rookie, could be described as a moe showcase in quite a one-dimensional way, for the moment.

On the other hand, the action scenes are pretty interesting. The girls has their own different "Outfit" which gives different weapon abilities. As you might have guessed from the picture above, Fubuki can shoot a machine gun and torpedoes.

Here's another example:

Fun fact: The bigger the guns the more accentuated the body shape will be, if you get my drift.

For the moment, KanColle seems to hold some promise with an interesting setting, but hopefully the story and characters gets more fleshed out. The third episode does hold some promise that the story will change (Watch out during the sea battle near the end).

Kantai Collection: KanColle

Set in a world where humanity has lost control of the oceans to the "deep sea fleet," the only hope to counter this threat are the Kanmusu, a group of girls who possess the spirit of Japanese warships. The story revolves around Fubuki, a destroyer who comes to the Chinjufu base to train with other Kanmusu. Watch as their stories unfold!

Majikoi!/Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!

It's one thing to honor your ancestors and keep old traditions alive, but there IS such a thing as taking it to a ridiculous extreme. In Kawakami City, having a samurai ancestor and enormous 'fighting spirit' isn't just an interesting fact, it's a huge part of how you end up being ranked on the social totem pole. That, in turn, rolls over into the school curriculum. Fortunately, that's something the local kids like Yamato Naoe have learned to deal with by forming into small 'bands,' (that's the samurai type, NOT music). However, while the delicate sexual balance of Yamato's group seemed fine when there were three girls and four boys, the sudden addition of two MORE girls starts to send everything spinning out of control!
